In 2019 I started working with Project Mødesteder on a permanent public artwork in collaboration with groups of children in 4th and 5th grade from schools in the area of Gellerup.
During a series of workshops in Gellerup the children and I dived deep into the process of creating AFTRYK, imprints, by exploring this big area that they live in and pass through on a daily basis. We paid attention to the things that we don't normally notice, things that all of a sudden become special through our focus; a rock, a can of cola, a stick, a screw. The objects we chose were then used to imprint textures and patterns on a square of soft clay. The unique and expressive tiles that this process resulted in were glazed and gathered in a colorful collective artwork which is permanently installed in public space in the area.
The following years, 2020 and 2021, I ran new rounds of the project, building on the artwork to make it even more impressive with a new group of children every year.
