The exhibition “Et Usprogligt Sted”, A Wordless Space, has been born as a testimony to my exploration of savn; of missing that which is no longer close, my own longing as well as that of the Immigrant as a character. It is an exploration of the void that exists parallel to an eternal dream of reconnecting with the homeland, building a bridge between new and original.
In my works I try to map the distance in between those positions and to dissect the communication with the ones left behind, which too often becomes a mediated, fictitious feeling of closeness.
The urge to explore this thematic is a driving force in my work, as well as the overall topic for the exhibition. I am showing works created between 2013 and 2021 in which I expose myself and my emotions in order to manifest and make savn tangible and create space for it in contemporary art.
The exhibition “Et Usprogligt Sted” is envisioned as a travelling exhibition that, like the immigrant, crosses borders, moves, changes, and with its cryptic, visual oddness sparks thoughts and discussion about migration, savn, longing, about death, and about the way we humans interact with each other in this world.
